Broad Selection Process Explained
The recruitment follows a systematic approach to ensure only the most suitable candidates are selected:
- Preliminary Examination: This is a qualifier round. Candidates must clear sectional cut-offs in English, Reasoning, and Math, as well as an overall cut-off. Marks obtained here are not considered for final merit but determine your entry to the Mains.
- Main Examination: This is the core competitive stage. The final merit list is prepared based on the marks secured in the 200-question Mains exam. It covers broader areas like General Awareness and Computer Knowledge alongside standard banking subjects.
- Language Proficiency Test (LPT): After the Mains, candidates are provisionally selected for the LPT. It is conducted in the official local language of the respective region (e.g., Tamil for Chennai, Marathi for Mumbai). If you fail this test, you are disqualified even if you topped the Mains exam. However, candidates who have studied the local language in 10th or 12th standard and provide proof are typically exempted from LPT.
