Introduction

The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) is inviting online applications for the recruitment of 1,952 Stenography cadre posts across various departments of the Haryana Government. The vacancies have been recently increased from 1,759 to 1,952 due to fresh requisitions from departments like the Directorate of Medical Education & Research and State Audit.

This recruitment is specifically for candidates who have already cleared the Haryana Common Eligibility Test (CET) Group-C. The selection process is unique, featuring a mandatory Stenography Skill Test as the first qualifying hurdle, followed by a written examination focusing heavily on shorthand theory. Applications are open from February 6 to February 15, 2026.

1. Important Dates & Application Fee

2. Eligibility Criteria (as of 15.02.2026)

A. Educational & Prerequisite

  • Basic Qualification: Must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) from a recognized board.
  • Mandatory Prerequisite: Only candidates who have qualified Haryana CET Group-C are eligible.
  • Language: Hindi or Sanskrit as one of the subjects in Matric (10th) or higher education.

B. Age Limit (as of 01.01.2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years.
  • Maximum Age: 42 Years.
  • (Age relaxation for SC/BC/PwD/Ex-Servicemen as per Haryana Govt rules).

4. Selection Process & Syllabus

Stage 1: Stenography Skill Test (Qualifying)
Candidates must pass the shorthand dictation and transcription test on a computer. No marks are awarded, but qualifying is mandatory.

Stage 2: Written Examination (100 Marks)
An offline OMR-based test with 100 questions. Duration: 105 Minutes.

  • Subject Related (Stenography Theory): 70% Weightage (Consonants, vowels, grammalogues, etc.)
  • General Awareness, Reasoning, Science, Haryana GK: 20% Weightage
  • Computer Knowledge: 10% Weightage
  • Note: No negative marking, but the 5th option in OMR must be filled if skipping a question.
