Introduction

The State Bank of India (SBI) is inviting online applications from eligible Indian citizens for the post of Circle Based Officer (CBO). With a total of 2050 vacancies across various circles in India, this recruitment (Advt No: CRPD/CBO/2025-26/18) is specifically designed for professionals already working in the banking sector.

Selected candidates will be posted in the specific Circle they apply for and will not be eligible for inner-circle transfer for several years. The selection involves an objective and descriptive online test, followed by screening and a personal interview.

1. Important Dates & Application Fee

The registration process has started today. Ensure you have your experience certificates ready before applying.

  • Online Application Starts: January 29, 2026
  • Last Date to Apply & Pay Fee: February 18, 2026
  • Download Admit Card: March 2026 (Tentative)
  • Online Exam Date: March 2026 (Tentative)

  • General / EWS / OBC: ₹750/-
  • SC / ST / PwBD: NIL (Exempted)

2. Eligibility Criteria (as of 31.12.2025)

A. Educational Qualification

  • Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Candidates with professional qualifications like CA, ICWA, Engineering, or Medical are also eligible.

B. Age Limit

  • Minimum: 21 Years
  • Maximum: 30 Years
  • (Candidates must have been born between 01.01.1996 and 31.12.2004).
  • Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL), 10-15 years for PwBD.

C. Mandatory Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience (Post-Essential Academic Qualification) as an officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank or any Regional Rural Bank (RRB).

D. Local Language Proficiency

  • Candidates must be proficient in the local language of the Circle they apply for. Those with proof of studying the local language in Class 10th or 12th are exempted from the language test.

3. Selection Process & Exam Pattern

Phase 1: Online Written Test (170 Marks)

  1. Objective Test (120 Marks): 2 Hours duration.
  • Banking Knowledge: 40 Qs / 40 Marks
  • English Language: 30 Qs / 30 Marks
  • General Awareness/Economy: 30 Qs / 30 Marks
  • Computer Aptitude: 20 Qs / 20 Marks
  1. Descriptive Test (50 Marks): 30 Minutes.
  • Letter Writing & Essay (To be typed on computer).

Phase 2: Screening

  • Applications and documents will be verified by a committee to ensure the 2-year experience matches the required “Officer” profile.

Phase 3: Interview (50 Marks)

  • Candidates qualifying the written test and screening will be called for an interview.
