The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) has kicked off the new year with a major announcement! The official notification for the Rajasthan Forester (Vanpal) Direct Recruitment 2026 (Advt No. 01/2026) has been released.

A total of 259 vacancies are up for grabs. If you have passed Class 12 and cleared the Rajasthan CET (12th Level), this is your chance to wear the uniform and serve in the Rajasthan Forest Department. The online application portal is now active.

2. Eligibility Criteria

A. Educational Qualification

  1. Academic: Must have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) from a recognized board.
  2. Mandatory Exam: Must have qualified the Rajasthan CET (Senior Secondary Level) 2024.
  3. General Knowledge: Working knowledge of Hindi (Devanagari script) and Rajasthan’s culture.

B. Age Limit (As on 01.01.2027)

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age: 40 Years
  • Special Relaxation: Since no recruitment took place in the last 3 years, all candidates get an additional 3-year age relaxation. Further relaxation applies to reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/Women) as per state rules.

3. Application Fees (One Time Registration – OTR)

Rajasthan has moved to a One-Time Registration fee system. If you have already paid OTR fees, you don’t need to pay again.

4. Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The process consists of:

  1. Written Examination (Objective)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)
  3. Document Verification

Written Exam Pattern:

  • Total Questions: 100
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Duration: 2 Hours
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd Mark deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Subjects: General Knowledge, Everyday Science, Mathematics, History, Geography, Art & Culture (with special reference to Rajasthan).

6. How to Apply Online

  1. Visit the Rajasthan SSO Portal: sso.rajasthan.gov.in.
  2. Login with your SSO ID and Password.
  3. Go to the “Recruitment Portal” section.
  4. Complete your One-Time Registration (OTR) and pay the fee if not done before.
  5. Click on “Apply Now” for the Forester Direct Recruitment 2026.
  6. Fill in the details, upload a Live Photo (using a webcam as per new rules), and signature.
  7. Submit the form and download the PDF.

7. RSSB Rajasthan Forester (Vanpal) Syllabus 2026

The examination will test candidates on their knowledge of Rajasthan and basic school-level subjects. The exam consists of 100 Questions for 100 Marks to be completed in 2 Hours.

1. Rajasthan General Knowledge & Social Studies (50 Marks)

This is the most important section, carrying half the total weightage.

  • History of Rajasthan:
  • Major ancient civilizations and archaeological sites (Kalibangan, Ahar, etc.).
  • Major dynasties, prominent rulers, and their administrative achievements.
  • Revolution of 1857 in Rajasthan and the role of local leaders.
  • Peasant movements, Tribal movements, and Praja Mandal movements.
  • The complete process of the Integration of Rajasthan.
  • Art & Culture of Rajasthan:
  • Architectural heritage: Major Forts, Palaces, Temples, and Monuments.
  • Painting traditions and various schools of Rajasthani art.
  • Folk Life: Music, Musical Instruments, Dances, and Dramas.
  • Religious life: Major sects, Folk Deities (Lok Devtas/Devis), and Saints.
  • Social life: Traditional Dresses, Ornaments, Fairs, Festivals, and Customs.
  • Language and Literature: Regional dialects and famous literary works.
  • Geography of Rajasthan:
  • Physical structure, Climate, and Drainage systems (Rivers & Lakes).

  • Physics: Laws of light (Reflection and Refraction), units, and measuring tools.
  • Biological Sciences: Human body structure and organ systems, Nutrition, and a balanced diet.
  • Health & Ecology: Major human diseases (causes and diagnosis), Ecosystems, and Biodiversity.
  • Environment: Waste Management and Climate Change.
  • Technology: Basic knowledge of Information Technology and Computer operations.

3. Mathematics (15 Marks)

Focuses on numerical aptitude and basic arithmetic operations.

  • Arithmetic: Number Systems, Computation of whole numbers, LCM & HCF, Average, and Percentage.
  • Commercial Math: Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple Interest, and Compound Interest.
  • Relation & Ratio: Ratio & Proportion, and Partnership.
  • Time & Work: Time and Distance, Speed, and Work/Time problems.
  • Mensuration: Area and Volume of basic 2D and 3D shapes.
  • Data Interpretation: Representation of data through Graphs, Bar Charts, and Pie Charts.

4. Current Affairs (15 Marks)

Focuses on recent events from the last 6–12 months.

  • State & National Level: Major political, economic, and social events.
  • Special Categories: Technology, Geography, Ecology, and Culture.
  • Sports: Major tournaments, awards, and sports personalities of Rajasthan.
  • Schemes: State government programs, policies, and welfare acts.

Important Exam Rules for 2026

  • Negative Marking: 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • The 5th Option Rule: Every question has 5 options (A, B, C, D, E). If you do not want to attempt a question, you must darken Option ‘E’.
  • Qualification: Candidates must score a minimum of 40% to be eligible for the next stage (Physical Test).
